  1. Hi everyone! I’m glad that we have a blog under our Curriculum Development CIT. My name is Joseph, Joseph Taoli. I’m a Tapped Technology Trainer and also an In-House Assessor under Electrical Installation and Maintenance at TESDA Regional Training Center- Baguio. It will be a great help for me to understand more on curriculum. Designing a curriculum is a very tough and challenging one. Although we have a Competency- Based Curriculum set by TESDA, I would like to compare with k-12 program on the Senior High curriculum but the problem is I haven’t seen one yet on our very newly opened own program. Comparing our curriculum from Technological- Vocational Schools accredited by TESDA, the duration of learning for example is not the same. We have the shorter one. They have many subjects, we have per competency basis. Thru our subject, Curriculum Development will guide me to design one in my field of expertise which could be the basis for the senior high students to be able for them to acquire knowledge and skills in the field of electricity.

  2. Hello  My name is Kristine Joy Lobo, now that I am already a lady I prefer to be called kris or tin. This coming December 3, 2012 I am turning 22 years old. I’m from Tarlac City and a Graduate of BSHTM HRRM. I enrolled in CIT because I want to take the Licensure Examination for Teachers so that I can teach in the future. My expectations in the Curriculum Development is that at the end of the course I already acquired enough information and knowledge about the subject and that I can have answers in whatever questions I will encounter in the LET. And also I expect that, I will learn how to design my own curriculum that I can share with the school that I might get in when I finish all this stepping stone to my dream of becoming a teacher. Through the help of my Instructor and myself of course I can achieve these expectations.

  3. Hello Ma’am and dear classmates! I am Bernadette Pagador-Escobar, a civilian instructor/course director with the Department of Social Sciences, Philippine Military Academy (PMA), teaching courses in Community Development, Comparative Ideologies, Philippine Government and Constitution, General Sociology, and Philippine History. I have worked in government for the past 15 years, 10 years of which is in college teaching. My motivation for enrolling in professional education, specifically in Curriculum Development, is mainly for re-tooling to improve my teaching practices and course directorship, in response to new teaching and professional competencies demanded by the framework of the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) recently adopted by the Academy for our cadets. It shall also serve as my refresher to prepare for the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), where I can review principles and concepts I learned two decades past. I am inspired and made confident by my mother’s advice (herself a licensed teacher) that the best preparation is to go back to the undergraduate where the fundamentals are discussed. I may contribute to the realization of my own expectations by sharing my professional experiences as a teacher in curriculum matters in the unique setting of the PMA, and share in the enrichment of the discourse in the classroom ( and in this blog). Thank you for the opportunity of learning with you! 11/29/12

  5. Hi Louisian bloggers! I'm Renan Jake D. Oyang-o. You can just call me Jake. I currently do businesses on small-scale basis; and what a joy to deal with people I have never expected to meet. I just recently finished Bachelor of Science in Managerial Accounting and some units in the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. I opted not to continue BSAc and just proceed with the CIT program.

I was motivated by the new changes in the curriculum of basic education that would somehow pave a way to openings of teaching careers; but as our discussions continued, I was able to realize that there are better reasons to continue this endeavor. I would love to learn more about curriculum development for the realization of my goal. This is to have concepts on how to develop curriculum for "Christian Economics"--a concept that would somehow integrate scriptural truths with the contemporary views on economics.

It is a blessing to deal and learn from you people of various backgrounds and professions!

  6. Hi! This is Olive. Well, I prefer to be called ‘Laise’. Believe me you would not want to know why my nickname is far from my given name. As for my expectations in this course, first of all, this is my first time to blog so I expect that through this medium, I will be enlightened with so many things especially regarding Curriculum Development. Secondly, through this activity, I expect to explore the minds of others meaning I would like to know what others think about certain topic and at the same time to have the opportunity to be corrected. Well, for me, a mistake is not a bad thing because thru this, everyone learns. Did you ever notice that it’s easier to recall mistakes you had especially when you were taking a very long exam, like those full of multiple choices, compared to the correct ones? By the way, the ‘very long exam’ may pertain to our ‘life’ while the ‘multiple choice’ serves as our ‘choices in life’ that should be decided. Well, supposedly, mistakes are bound not to be repeated. Lastly I hope that it will enhance my writing skill, if there is. There are three things that I’m willing to do. They are ‘to share’, ‘to be corrected’ and ‘to learn’ in order to contribute to the realization of my expectations. Like what Ma’am said, ‘Happy Blogging’.

  7. Hello everyone! I'm Mary Elaine Santos. Just call me Elaine. I enrolled in the CIT program because, of course, I want to be qualified to take the LET; with several years of teaching experience,I want to be a "licensed professional teacher". With regards to our curriculum development course, I am eager to learn everything there is to know... I have been in the academe for quite a long time now and through different positions and appointments given, I had the chance of contributing to curriculum development by actually completing a new curriculum for the BSBA-Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Program as required by a CMO- CHED Memorandum Order. Before joining the SLU Community,I had also the opportunity to be a head of new (start-up) College.I practically had a free-hand with administrative and academic matters. As a requirement for issuance of government permit to operate I revised and completed the Curricula for Teacher Education as well as Business Administration which was approved by the CHED. The College of Teacher Education was granted Government Recognition and the BSBA progam was next in line. My last project was the approval of a TESDA course. Well, I guess hands-on actual experience came ahead before theoretical learning, my gosh! I believe my years of teaching experience taught me a lot and contributed a lot to the success of those endeavors. With our Curriculum Development Course, I will finally be able to learn "what is IT really all about"! I will do my very best, as said by our classmates, to share with and to learn from all of you! A pleasant day to everyone...God bless!

  8. A blessed day to everyone! As we may have already met, I am Charity Rosario, “Cha-Cha” (yes, as in the dance) for short. I graduated BA Communication last 2012; I now work as a part-time high school teacher. I love reading, writing, and occasionally, long walks on the beach. ^^

Curriculum Development has proved to be a course that bears much interest for me as I am seeking to bridge what I have studied as an undergraduate to my current pursuit of the teaching profession. To make the learning process meaningful for everyone involved, I would like to contribute, first, ideas and perspectives that are relevant to our discussions; and second, inquiries that birth (hopefully) substantial ideas.

I am optimistic that everyone will be granted a fair platform to voice out their thoughts, after all, is not what education is all about—the giving and taking of one’s self? Having said that, I look forward to the sharing of minds, always towards the pursuit of excellence. :)

I’ll see you all in class!

  9. Greetings to everyone! This is Jenny Rose C. Valete, you can call me ‘Jen’ or ‘Jenny’. I’m a registered nurse and certified renal nurse. However, due to the increased number of nursing graduates today that is more than the demand for nursing professionals, I am now one of those who were unemployed. It was actually my childhood dream to become a teacher but I was asked by my parents to take up nursing instead because of the demand for nurses during that time. So now, I have decided to take a turn and make a step in fulfilling what I originally wanted to be – to be a teacher. I enrolled in the CIT program because first I want to take and of course pass the LET and secondly, to learn how I can be an effective teacher. My previous course is very different from education so I hope that through this course I’ll be able to understand the teaching practice and of course help me pass the LET. With this in mind, I will do my best to know better and understand every concept of teaching as a profession.

  11. Hi! My name is Diana Pindog. You can simply call me ate Diana or Ms. Diana. I'm a Psychology graduate and currently taking my masters. I'm working as an EFL teacher at Pines International Academy.
Curriculum Development, though not much related to my course, serves as one of the basic standards that could help me in my professional career. I, seeing myself working in the academe in the future, a competent understanding of curriculum will guide me in the field of Industrial Organization and Psychology. I'm interested involving myself learning the concepts and studies of curriculum development that would help me to be confident enough integrating into educational issues and concerns of teachers and students.
I'm hoping to share my thoughts having the consideration of the difficulties in the course. : )

  13. Greetings to all! My name is Maridelle C. Ordonez. You can call me “Madel”. I am a graduate of BS Accountancy, and I never thought of becoming a teacher. How I got interested in the teaching profession is a result of a decade of trial-and-error process of discovering which career would bring me happiness, satisfaction and fulfillment in life. I had worked in various fields, but the last one made me feel the desire to embrace it. This is being a teacher. At work, we are actually called “tutors”, but I want to be a professional teacher, so I enrolled in the CIT Program.

I expect that at the end of the program, I will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills not only to acquire the license, but also to become an effective and valuable professional teacher in the near future. Moreover, I expect to learn from my classmates who have already been in the teaching profession for a long time. I believe that by sharing their experiences and expertise in class, I can learn more. For this reason, I think that listening attentively and doing my best can contribute to the achievement of my expectations.

As a faculty member, I teach nursing concepts inside the classroom and I supervise my students in their hospital duties. In addition to this motivation, I am from a family of teachers and this made me also think that my real calling is to teach.
I expect to learn more on curriculum development, how curricula are created, the background and more concepts governing this.

  16. Hello, This is your classmate Cole de Leon Hernandez a graduate from Saint Louis University, Bachelor of arts in Communication. I'm from Bontoc Mountain Province 24 years old, I like History and games and I'm not really good in starting a conversation so all I can say is hello classmates nice to meet you and happy holidays. I'm curious in how do teachers get the full attention of the students and how to make lectures and activities fun and interesting so that the different interests of students will not be a problem. I find the teaching profession interesting, challenging and fun.

    1. Comments on the work of Cole
      Hi Cole!
You are good, chill, and cool. Earned a degree of Ba Communication. You are Igorot as me and we are proud of that, but I don’t know who really you are because we just meet in the four corners of classroom.
For me as your “kailyan”, it is better if you discover more skills in starting communication (with sense) because that is under your field “kayam dayta padli” and I think it will benefit you because you can express more in oral communication than in written communication. In your statement, I think every teacher has their own chrism to get the attention of the students but there should be the participation of the learner to make the lectures and activities interesting. Teachers – Students’ collaboration is very important to have an interesting class. An obvious example would be our own class. We are in groups a lot and we actively participate and learn through discussion.
having an interesting class is in the hand of teacher and students.thank you.

  17. Hi classmates!
My name was based from my birtday’s Saint - Saint Isidro Labrador (patron saint of the farmer) means laborer. On the other hand, Labrador is the distinct, northerly region of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It comprises the mainland portion of the province, separated from the island of Newfoundland by the Strait of Belle Isle. It is the largest and northernmost geographical region in Atlantic Canada.
Just call me Labby for short because I am short. I’m from the greatest native land of Bauko, Mountain Province and came from a big family of Cobcobo and Alcido. I’m proud of who I am (Igorot). I’m a product of Saint Louis University from Philosophy Department under School of Humanities.
I expect the “best and all is well” as we go far as we can in this course, as Michel de Monaigne quoted, “The profit we possess after study is to have become better and wiser”. Certificate in Teaching is an opportunity and blessing for non-education majors to take up LET. My contribution is my dedication, commitment, values, and sharing my own knowledge and understanding in this field to attain our aims and goals.
